the talks lasted less than an hour and didn't produce a solution. both sides are committed to working on a bipartisan proposal to save the u.s. from the first government default in history. president obama used the weekly radio address to urge lawmakers to put differences aside quickly. >> we can leave for our children a more secure future. or, we can issue insults and ultimatums to each other and achieve nothing. >> reporter: a week of negotiations ended dramatically when john boehner broke off private talks with the president in a dispute with taxes. they were making talks about medicare and medicaid. john boehner said that the original agreement was for $8 billion in revenues. the white house moved the goal post.
